Directors

The companies register contains details of each company director – their full legal name, residential address and date of appointment. As these details change, the changes must also be recorded on the register.

Step 1 – Locate the company to update

From the Online Services – Do It Now menu choose Directors – add, remove update (it’s under the heading of Update Company Details).

Find the company by entering some search criteria (for example, either the company name or the company number).

From the Search Results select the company to update.

Step 2 – Click on the Directors tab

A range of information is held for each company on the companies register.  Details of each company director held include their:

  • Full legal name
  • Residential address
  • Date of appointment

As these details change, the changes must also be recorded on the register.

Appointments of new directors
Notification of the appointment of a new director must be made within 20 working days of the appointment (by updating online).

Director address changes
You should notify the Registrar of changes of a director’s address within 20 working days of you becoming aware of the change (by updating online).
Director’s change of name
A change of a director’s name must be notified to the Registrar of Companies within 20 working days of the company becoming aware of the change (by updating online).
Directors ceasing to hold office
When a director ceases to hold office you should notify the Registrar of Companies within 20 working days of the change (by updating online).
